Today, was a very productive day. Lots of words in a short amount of time.
So here’s a run down of what I accomplished:
First, I finished up the section I skipped over in yesterday’s scene. I wasn’t quite sure how long it would take for Maeve to put the pieces together, but she did it in about 618 words. Good on her.
Second, I completed a scene that my Muse suggested I add on. That was a couple days back, and I wasn’t sure if it was a necessary scene, but I like the way it went. It may have more significance if I go a little deeper into Darakur’s internalizations. There’s something about him I haven’t quite brought to the surface of the story. It may be the sort of thing I won’t see until the entire first draft is complete. This add-on turned out to be 732 words.
Lastly, I wrote another short scene, in which Maeve wakes up and wonders if she’s dreaming or if what came before was the dream/nightmare, and she’s all very confused but eventually gains some clarity. That came in at 898 words.
So today’s grand total comes to 2,248 words.
All that remains is one final scene with Maeve’s family and a denouement scene with Darakur. With a 1,432 words to go to meet the challenge, I’m pretty confident that I may be able to wrap up NaNoWriMo and complete Red Wednesday tomorrow. That, at least, is my goal.
Until then, see you tomorrow.
