Phase One Fundraising Goal: $400

This is the first of two campaigns. This first campaign will focus on producing and launching the digital edition (ebook) of The Arrest in Mannequin Row. The second campaign will be later in the year and will focus on raising funds for producing the print edition.

The Arrest in Mannequin Row is a supernatural thriller / quiet horror tale similar to stories by Stephen King.

Jule, a young woman with her own scavenging business, embarks on a dive at a new location, James Cove. When she learns Detective Leon Mnabi has gone missing, the one person who showed her kindness while she was a kid growing up on the streets of Edgeport City, Jule is forced to face the darkness of both her past and her present beneath the water among the abandoned homes of a flooded town.

The ebook edition will be made available on most online retailers (Amazon, Indigo, Barnes&Noble et al). The format of the print copy has yet to be determined and will be available online as well. The story is currently 10.5k words in length.

How will this money be spent?

Editing
The majority of the money will cover the cost of developmental editing and line editing. I’ve worked with Sèpehera Girón at Scarlett Editorial Services on my previous projects Spider Spun and The Cannibal’s Handbook. Sèphera is an author and editor, among many other things, and she also heads the Ontario Chapter for the Horror Writers Association.

Cover Art
The remainder of the money will be used to pay for the usage of stock photography that will be used to complete the cover art. The cover art is by far the most ambitious digital design project I’ve done so far, and I’m excited to see it starting to come together. Even though the photographs I use are free to use for commercial use, I like to compensate the photographers.

How will I raise the money?

Donations
Some people love to support their favourite writers just because they can. Donations can be made by sending money to paypal.me/kitdaven or by eTransfer to words@kitdaven.com. (Note: eTransfer donations must be $10 or higher, because the bank says so.)

Selling Stuff
I will be posting items for sale in my newsletter, on this page, and across my social media platforms. Some of these items will be limited edition prints and one-of-a-kind tote bags designed by me. The money made from these sales will go toward the campaign, minus the shipping costs and POS processing fees.

Limited Edition Prints

If you are interested in making a purchase, please contact me first to make sure the item you want is still available. Then we’ll make arrangements for payment and delivery. Click here to contact me.

One of a Kind Tote Bags

Tote #1

This quirky, cool tote is approximately 16″ tall x 12″ wide with a 2.5″ gusset. It is a one-of-a-kind design, made from recycled and found fabrics (cotton, denim, linen, and burlap). It is lined and has a magnetic snap. No pockets. 🙁

Asking $80, shipping included (US & Canada only) . If you live near Cambridge and I can arrange to personally deliver it, I will happily reduce the price to $60.
